High Wind, a subsidiary of DEME, developed the Boom Lock system, enabling offshore cranes to install wind turbine components in high wind conditions. The system features tag lines for precise load control, developed and tested by Controllab. Utilizing a hybrid control strategy with position and force control, the tag lines stabilize wind blades during lifting. Tested on a digital twin and implemented on the Neptune jack-up vessel, the system is in full operation since 2015, stabilizing blades in winds up to 15 m/s.
